Stephen Bonnar’s Wife, Andrea Brown, is currently mourning the death of her husband. 

Stephan Bonnar, a member of the UFC Hall of Fame who made history by competing on the first season of “The Ultimate Fighter,” has passed away. 

He was 45. The UFC broke the news on Saturday, Christmas Eve, and attributed Bonnar’s death, which happened on Thursday, to “heart difficulties while at work.” 

UFC President Dana White said, “Stephan Bonnar was one of the most significant fighters to ever compete in the Octagon.” 

“His confrontation with Forrest Griffin altered sports history, and he will always be remembered. Fans adored him, could identify with him, and he always gave his all for them. We will miss him.”

On April 9, 2005, at the Cox Pavilion on the UNLV campus in Las Vegas, the light heavyweight season finale of The Ultimate Fighter featured one of the greatest battles in the history of the organization between Bonnar and Griffin. 

However, following the titanic Griffin-Bonnar fight on Spike TV, White, Fertitta, and Spike officials negotiated a new television arrangement in the arena’s parking lot, which immediately improved the company’s fortunes. 

A black belt in jiu-jitsu and an aggressive hitter, Bonnar was also a humorous public speaker who was outstanding in front of an audience.

Griffin won the TUF 1 championship in a split decision but was also given a contract with the UFC. 

He continued to compete in the promotion 15 more times, finishing with a 7-8 record in the UFC. 

Seven of his eight UFC defeats occurred to competitors who are already in the Hall of Fame, such as Anderson Silva, Griffin, Rashad Evans, or Jon Jones. Krzysztof Soszynski, a non-Hall of Famer, was the victim of his lone UFC defeat. 

He fought Soszynski again and won. Before joining the UFC, Bonnar only ever suffered one defeat, to Lyoto Machida at Jungle Fight 1. The only non-UFC champion to ever defeat Bonnar was Soszynski.

On November 15, 2014, at Bellator 131, Tito Ortiz defeated him in his final match. His final record was 15-9, with nine finishes during his career. 

At the end of his career and after retiring, he briefly engaged in professional wrestling. 

But the altercation with Griffin will live in infamy. He claimed he was surprised by how quickly his notoriety grew following the fight. 

Griffin, Bonnar’s son, and his wife, Andrea, are still alive.

Andrea Brown began her career in production for Hubbard Broadcasting in the middle of the 1990s. 

She started working at Fox News Miami as a Special Projects/Consumer/Investigative Producer a few years later.

She served as a PR Manager for MGM Resorts International from 2007 to 2010. 

Her most recent position was for Stephan Bonnar Enterprises as a publicist, stylist, and talent manager. 

Stephan Bonnar was wed to Andrea Brown Bonnar at the time of his death. On October 30, 2009, Bonnar and his lifelong partner were married in Tuscany, Italy. 

Griffin Brandon, the couple’s only child, was given the Forrest Griffin name in honor of Andrea’s late brother, Brandon Brown.
