Just like a lighthouse on a quiet shore, he illuminated the path of many with his jovial demeanor and genuine goodwill. His untimely death stings like an unwelcome winter breeze, leaving an icy pit in the hearts of those who had the pleasure to cross paths with him.

His parents, Norman Bloom and Jeanne Lysobey Bloom, bid adieu to the world before they could see their son turn into the man that he was known far and wide. Steven polished his ingenuity and resilience, attributing his undying energy to the love and values instilled in him by his late parents.

He graduated from Norwalk High School in 1979, but Steven was anything but a textbook graduate. The salt air and the unending horizon called to him, louder than any school bell could ever ring. He proved the stereotypical belief wrong, that success mandates one to follow the conventional path of higher education. Steven’s success was a blend of hard work, humility, and an insatiable passion for his work.

Our dear Steven began his journey as an oysterman in the family business, Talmadge Bros. After getting a grip on the ropes, he launched his venture, K.B. Shellfish. A true sea lover, he couldn’t resist the call of the ocean, and he chose to answer it by working at Norm Bloom & Son, side by side with his brother.

Steven’s love for life didn’t cease at work. He was a seasoned skier, with his love for the sport kindled at the tender age of ten. The whispering pine trees and the crunching snow under his boots at Okemo Mountain became his winter solace. But his heart was truly at the sea – boating on the calm Long Island Sound was his favorite pastime. He spent his free time soaking up wisdom from old sea tales at the South Norwalk Boat Club and the Ischoda Yacht Club. It’s a bat-crazy world that only moms would understand!

Laura wanted nothing but a life full of promising tomorrows for her children. The innocence of their beautiful faces was her haven, a place where her worries evaporated, replaced with overwhelming love. There was a simple yet powerful wish in her heart – to ensure her family’s life was uncomplicated, sown with seeds of love and peace.

This brings me to the sorrowful part that upon Laura’s passing, she had just given birth to a beautiful baby girl. A heartbreaking start for a precious life.
