The Oberoi Beach Resort Hotel Review, Egypt
Andrew Mckinney There’s a lovely North African style to the single-storey architecture of this sprawling resort, punctuated with domed roofs, patterned with Armani-greige stripes. Poolside furniture is sunflower yellow, creating a joyful pop of colour against the perpetually blue sky, while the loungers, windbreakers and thatched parasols on the beach are spaced out so you won’t hear or see other guests.
The main building is neoclassical and set around a central courtyard with columns. Oberoi fans will be familiar with the atmosphere from sibling properties in India. Despite some bright colours, a few kitsch fake camels dropped into the landscaping, and some ill-advised ABBA cover versions played on the accordion at dinner, it represents serious luxury.
