Theodore Roosevelt White – Metropolitan Funeral
David Craig Theodore Roosevelt White affectionately known as “Cosmo” was born on March 20, 1941, to the late Theodore and Christine White. On June 24, 2022, he departed this life to be with the Lord.
Cosmo was a native of Portsmouth, Virginia where he received his education from the Portsmouth Public School System. He later joined the United States Army where he spent two years in active service. Not quite fulfilled, he pursued a forty-two year career at Norfolk Naval Shipyard. As a supervisor in Shop 71, he impacted many through mentorship and leadership by exemplifying integrity and humility.
Cosmo was a member of Free Indeed Missionary Baptist Church where he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior. Under the leadership of Dr. Calvin Merritt, he flourished in his journey to becoming a devoted Christian.
Cosmo had a heart of gold and lived a life of love, compassion, and empathy. He was a phenomenal man, an incredible father, a committed grandfather, loving brother, and a joy to all he came into contact with. He had a genuine heart; a gentle soul and his demeanor was mild-mannered. He dedicated his time caring for, supporting, and encouraging his family, friends and loved ones. He will forever be honored and remembered by his family and friends.
Cosmo is survived by his wife Emma White, three children Melvin White, Tamika Daughtry (Marvin Daughtry), and Tara White. Two sisters Ernestine Garrett and Otelia Elliott; and brother Vernon White. He is preceded in death by his brother Leroy White. He also leaves behind his five granddaughters Lakeshia “Kee-Kee” Jenkins, Jasmine Todd, Allena “Bina,” Bailey, Kayla Bailey, and Keyeona Britt. His one and only grandson Melvin Hughes and great grandson Aiden Cross.
Cosmo will be greatly missed by a host of special nieces, nephews, relatives, friends, and neighbors whom he loved dearly.
