The name of this central Florence hotel pinpoints its remit: to act as a hotel and art gallery at the same time. The buzzy aperitivo and late-night scene at the bar-restaurant may put off those who don’t feel like partying, but prices are lower than in its Lungarno sister hotels – whose facilities you can use. It was the city's first design hotel, and is literally around the corner from the Ponte Vecchio. Even though it feels somewhat removed from the worst of the tourist crowds, the location, on the north bank of the river Arno just east of the Ponte Vecchio, is excellent. Fifth floor aside, the hotel (which inhabits a late 18th-century building) has been restyled with a nod to 1930s glamour.
