Vince Neil Sued by Woman After Las Vegas Attack
William Harris On April 7 in Las Vegas, Vince Neil — best-known as the lead vocalist of Mötley Crüe — allegedly attacked a woman, and then got into a heated physical altercation with Nicolas Cage. According to TMZ, Cage and Neil were inside a restaurant at the Aria Hotel when a woman came up to Cage and asked for an autograph. Neil then “allegedly got behind the woman, grabbed her by the hair, and pulled her to the ground.” The video above shows the end of their fight, as Cage tried to restrain Neil and calm him down.
Update, July 7: Following a criminal investigation, Neil has been charged with misdemeanor battery for the alleged assault. Neil faces six months in prison if convicted. Officer Michael Rodriguez of the Las Vegas Police Department told Rolling Stone: “[Mr. Neil] and Mr. Cage went to Aria. A female was attempting to talk to or get an autograph from Mr. Cage … Mr. Neil subsequently pulled her down to the ground by her hair.” According to TMZ, surveillance video of the incident exists. Neil is due in court July 27.
Update, July 16: In a suit filed Thursday in a federal court in Nevada, Kelly Guerrero — the woman involved — is suing Neil over the attack, which resulted in “substantial medical expenses, lost wages, pain and suffering, and emotional distress.” In legal documents obtained by the Wrap,Guerrero claims she saw Cage, Neil, and Carrot Top walking in front of her and her son at Aria, prompting her to say “I love you” and “My son loved you in Ghost Rider and City of Angels” to Cage, while he was putting Neil in a headlock. The “horseplay” between the two men soon escalated when Cage let go of Neil; the rocker then attacked Guerrero by “grabbing her hair from behind” and “yanking her to the pavement on her back.”
Guerrero also claims that Neil was “severely intoxicated and/or under the influence of powerful drug(s)” at the time, and “staggered toward yet another woman, grabbing and attacking her” after being restrained by Cage for a second time. Following the alleged attack, the suit contends that Guerrero was diagnosed with “back sprain or strain, neck sprain or strain and sacral contusion due to physical assault,” a fractured coccyx, and a severe left-hip injury, prompting additional medical care and psychotherapy. She’s seeking damages in excess of $75,000.
