While performing at an event in the Corporate area, he collapsed and was later declared dead at the hospital, where he was taken on March 5, 2023.

Dj Arif Cooper was one of the artists scheduled to perform at the event and suffered a seizure while performing, according to Sparkie Babie, who confirmed his passing on social media. Despite being rushed to the hospital, he could not survive.

Dj Arif Cooper was a renowned DJ and record producer known for his exceptional talent. He was the son of Michael ‘Ibo’ Cooper, the founder of the legendary reggae group Third World.

According to a statement by Chat Radio, Arif Cooper’s sudden passing is a significant loss to the music industry. 

He was an accomplished selector, a radio personality on FAME FM, and the owner and producer of Fresh Ear productions, through which he collaborated with several tops and emerging artists.

Jah Moore also shared his condolences, describing Arif Cooper as an exceptional DJ and guaranteeing a good time whenever he was in charge of the music. He expressed his belief that Arif deserved retirement instead of death but recognized that it was not his decision to make.

The Jamaica College Old Boys Association Florida paid tribute to Arif Cooper as a former student of Jamaica College and a popular disc jockey, music producer, and radio personality.

They also acknowledged his family connection to Michael “Ibo” Cooper, one of the founders of the legendary reggae group Third World.
