Laura Day murderer has been in the limelight since 2013 for her heinous crime. She was found guilty of capital murder for killing her stepson, Taylor Syring, in 2012.

Taylor Syring’s Death

On October 5, 2012, Day picked up Taylor from school, claiming that they were going to the beach. 

According to Day’s account, while they were at the beach, she briefly turned away, only to find Taylor missing when she looked back. Distressed, she reported that Taylor had drowned and rushed him to the hospital. 

However, further investigation revealed that Taylor’s death was not accidental, casting suspicion on Laura Day.

Laura Day’s past raised more suspicion about her involvement in Taylor’s death. 

When reviewing her criminal history, authorities discovered that Day had previously been convicted of second-degree murder. 

When she was 17, she shot her 21-year-old boyfriend after he broke up with her. She then tried to take her own life. 

She served only six years before her release, yet she found herself implicated in another tragic incident with Taylor.

Day’s Relationship with Taylor Syring

Taylor was Day’s stepson, and she had been married to his father for only two months at the time of the incident. 

Taylor would visit Day and his father every weekend after David Syring divorced his ex-wife, Kelly, Taylor’s biological mother. 

They lived in Corpus Christi, Texas, where the fateful incident occurred.

Day’s Actions during Taylor’s Death

It was found that before Taylor drowned, Day took off his life jacket because he was getting a rash. 

Day said she allowed Taylor to swim and play in the shallow water without his life jacket, provided he showed her he was comfortable. 

However, when Taylor resurfaced in the water, Day allegedly did not perform CPR despite having certification. 

In addition, authorities found that Day had a previous conviction for murder. As such, Day was charged with child endangerment, capital murder, and injury to a child.

Day’s Conviction and Where She is Now

In 2013, Laura Day faced trial for her involvement in a capital murder case, and the court rendered a verdict of guilt, sentencing her to life in prison without the possibility of parole. 

Today, she remains incarcerated at the Christina Melton Crain Unit in Gatesville, Texas, serving her sentence for the grave crime committed. 

As a consequence of her conviction, Day and David, her former spouse, parted ways, their relationship strained by the circumstances. 

Despite her confinement, Day has managed to establish a connection with the outside world through a pen pal boyfriend, offering her a source of companionship and support during her time behind bars.
