Who knew? Photos of former British prime minister Liz Truss as Cleveland Browns fan, resurges
David Craig The now former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Liz Truss, happens to be an NFL fan and in particular of a team few would think of: Cleveland Browns.
In the wake of her resignation as British leader, Truss has drawn attention to her social media, where several followers rediscovered that she is a Browns fan.
Truss, 47, who was born in Oxford, is a Browns fan... or at least she was for one night, as can be seen in posts on her Twitter account, in which she appears wearing the Northeast Ohio team's jersey.
Truss visited the Browns stadium in 2018
The photos are from four years ago, when Truss attended FirstEnergy Stadium in a Week 3 game of the 2018 season, when the Browns defeated the New York Jets. In that game, then Cleveland QB Baker Mayfield made his NFL debut and helped give the team its first win in 635 days.
Truss traveled to Cleveland on that occasion as part of a mission to bring an NFL franchise to the United Kingdom. In his meeting with Browns owner Dee Haslam, he exchanged a custom Norwich FC jersey with a Browns jersey.
"Thank you @Browns and @NFL for hosting me tonight," he wrote. "An NFL team in the would boost cultural ties with the ... and benefit the economy too much #ShirtSwap," she wrote.
His resignation in the midst of a major economic crisis
Truss's announcement, that he would be stepping down just 44 days after taking office, rocked the world of British and global politics last Thursday.
Truss was forced to resign due to the failure of her economic policies, which caused a major rebellion within the country's Parliament.
