Why Ferguson is worth it for Brighton
Emily Wong Eddie Howe says Callum Wilson will need to be assessed before deciding whether he's fit to play in Newcastle United's trip to Bournemouth this weekend.
Wilson, 31, was forced off at half-time in Newcastle's 2-0 Champions League defeat at Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday. He was replaced for Anthony Gordon.
After the match, Howe claimed Wilson "was feeling a tightness in his hamstring" but he has confirmed the striker is having tests and no decision has been made on whether he'll feature at the Vitality on Saturday.
Howe said: “He had a tight hamstring. We’re doing various tests, he’s been called up for England so we’re waiting to see if he’s fit for this game (Bournemouth) and then make a decision afterwards.”
Sven Botman, meanwhile, hasn't featured for Newcastle since their 8-0 victory against Sheffield United in September. The 23-year-old defender has been nursing a knee injury.
Howe confirmed that the Dutchman has been away in the Netherlands receiving specialist treatment and is progressing well. He is set to return to the United Kingdom today.
