Will Smith is speaking out about his marriage to Jada Pinkett Smith after her new memoir Worthy revealed a slew of headline-making bombshells (the most significant being that the two have been separated since 2016). While attending a book tour event with Pinkett Smith in Baltimore, Will called their 30-year relationship "very long and tumultuous."
"We call it ‘brutiful,'" he said, per the Baltimore Sun. "It was brutal and beautiful at the same time."
During the appearance, Will explained to the crowd and Jada why it was important for him to be there, saying he wanted to "hold it down for you the way you have held it down for me."
He also referred to their marriage as a"sloppy public experiment in unconditional love," according to The Baltimore Banner.

"As I stand here before you today, I am happier than I've ever been in my entire life," he said. "I have achieved every single thing I have ever wanted in my entire life. There is not one thing left that I desire in this world — all of the awards, all of the money, the family — everything I've ever dreamed."
He praised Jada for raising their kids, Jaden, Willow, and Trey Smith (who Will shares with ex Sheree Zampino), while he pursued his Hollywood dreams. "Can you show up and love somebody for the rest of your life, even when you don't agree with them?" he asked. "Jada is the best friend I have ever had on this planet and I am going to show up for her and support her for the rest of my life."
According to The Baltimore Banner, Jada even referred to him as "babe" at the book tour stop. Earlier this week, the actor responded to all of the media attention following the release of Jada's memoir with an Instagram post and a cheeky caption. He shared a video of him sleeping on a boat with the caption, “Notifications off :)." He also told The New York Times that the book “kind of woke [him] up.”
In a recent interview with InStyle, Jada explained that writing Worthy has benefitted their relationship "a lot."
“It's been so interesting because you think you know somebody and, that's the thing, you never stop learning about your partner," she said. “I think for Will, it gave him such intimate insight into everything in a way that I don't know if he would've had without a book. Because you don't go, ‘Hey, sit and tell me, go into detail about generational trauma between your great-grandmother, your grandmother, your mother, and you.’”
