The economic gap between men and women is once again hitting basketball. After the revealing data that indicated that the highest paid players in the WNBA - the best women's league on the planet- were paid three times less than the Denver Nuggets mascot in the NBA, another giant difference surfaces.

Kelsey Plum, star point guard for the Las Vegas Aces and the star of the tremendous U.S. team that won the last World Cup in Australia, denounced the fact that the WNBA does not receive any money from the sale of its jerseys. It's not that they earn less, it's that they don't earn.

Not seeking parity

"We don't want to earn the same as them. We're asking to be able to get the same percentage for sales. It's not the same concept. I don't think I have to make the same as LeBron, but the percentage for jerseys. I see mine at Mandalay Bay - a well-known commercial place in Las Vegas - for example, and I don't get a dollar," Plum told The Residency Podcast.

"In the NBA they have percentages of sales on their jerseys. In addition to the television contracts, which are growing all the time. And they get that because of the agreements with the different organizations. In the WNBA it doesn't happen...", she added.

Specifically for jerseys, each player receives 50 percent of the percentage of sales.

Last season's top sellers

Last season, LeBron James was the player who sold the most jerseys, followed by James Harden and Stephen Curry. In the WNBA, that honor goes to Sabrina Ionescu, star of the New York Liberty ahead of Sue Bird and Diana Taurasi.
